| Quick Resume: Private lessons offered for beginners, intermediate, and advanced players on 16th St, near Pine St, in Center City. The lessons are fun and geared towards helping you achieve your musical goals however humble or ambitious they may be. You'll learn proper technique, practical theory, improvisation, reading, and apply these skills to your ever growing repertoire of classical, blues, rock, and folk music. I am a professional teacher/performer with a proven track record, and student of guitar for 33 years. I have performed locally and abroad for more than 20 years. I teach authentic bottleneck slide technique, Delta and Piedmont fingerpicking, rock guitar soloing, and folk guitar technique.
Each student is unique in what he/she needs to concentrate on, so I do not follow one rigid lesson plan. One student may want to become a songwriter; another may want to play just for fun; and still another may want to develop into a killer soloist. Each student's lesson plan is designed to bring the individual student to a higher degree of technique, knowledge and enjoyment as quickly as possible. Learning songs is one of the best ways to improve playing and develop a personal style. I will teach you to play the songs that you want to learn and if the level of technique has not yet been reached, you will learn the techniques that will make it possible.
Some of my past and current students are currently performing locally, as well as nationally, and others just play for fun. They are learning the songs of blues luminaries Stevie Ray Vaughn, Blind Blake, Eric Clapton, and Duane Allman, contemporary rock artists like Audioslave and Pearl Jam, as well as Indie artists, like the Shins, and Dar Williams, to name a few.
